Small Project Bag

September 24, 2008

Hi Guys!

After searching the internet all weekend I found this cute drawstring project bag.  I got brave and made a couple of them and they turned out great!  I bought 1/2 yard of two fabrics and I think I could make 3 total bags!  Check out the link and I will bring mine to knit night on Tuesday!

A Few Good Tips

September 17, 2008

Recently on the Monthly Dishcloth site several people offered suggestions and tips which I thought were something we could all share in:

———————————————————-

” I use an ice cream bucket for the big cones of cotton. For the balls, I
will use a 2 liter pop bottle, with a 3 sided door cut in the side. Pop
in the ball, feed the end through the bottle neck.” (another person gave the same pop bottle suggestion, stating that she made a ‘door’ in the side of the bottle and secured it with duct tape.)

===============================

“I use an Altoids tin to hold my yarn needles and fold-up scissors; a traveling toothbrush holder works for holding a cable needle and crochet hook

===================

(an inexpensive yarn/project holder)  several suggestions:

grab a gallon Ziploc baggie, poke a hole in the bottom center with a crochet hook or something, thread the yarn through that, and close the bag.

—-

a plastic pitcher with a hole in the lid which can be turned to open. It also had another part of the lid that had holes in it so ice wouldn’t fall out- put yarn it it, thread the yarn through one of the holes in the lid.

—-

Don’t forget to check out dollar type stores. You can find lots of
things there that would work – and since they’re only a dollar, you
won’t mind cutting holes in them if needed. Also, I’ve seen two liter
soda bottles used (you cut them in half, stick in the yarn, thread it
through the bottle opening, then stick the bottom back on again).

—-

an cracker box the one that holds 4 sleeves of unsalted crackers would work and the hole in the top made either with a large needle or maybe a paper punch.
